Endowed Fellowship at Center for Furniture Craftsmanship

Aspen Golann and Wu Hanyen will be co-fellows at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Rockport, Maine.

About The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship

The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship is a nonprofit school dedicated to excellence in woodworking. Founded in 1993, the Center offers hands-on classes in furniture making and related skills, welcoming students of all backgrounds and experience levels. With a deep commitment to craftsmanship, creativity, and education, the school supports emerging and established makers alike through its intensive programs and residencies.

About the Endowed Fellowship

Launched in 2023 with support from the Maxwell/Hanrahan Foundation, the endowed fellowship provides resources and time for artists to explore new directions in their work. Aspen and Wu will use the fellowship to co-design and build a new collection of chairs that blends their practices, backgrounds, and design approaches. Their collaboration began during a chairmaking class through The Chairmaker’s Toolbox and has grown into a shared vision for education and craft innovation.

The fellowship includes studio access, a materials stipend, and housing.
